NEW - Volunteers needed for Kitsap's annual Water Festival
Help celebrate the 21st year of the Kitsap Water Festival by volunteering. The festival takes place 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. The annual Water Festival hosts up to 1,200 fourth- and fifth-grade students from across the county. Students learn the importance of protecting precious water resources.

Free golf at Village Greens re-opening March 9
The Village Greens Golf Course, in Port Orchard, will re-open for the 2015 season on Monday, March 9 with FREE GOLF for everyone who attends this day. The course will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Guests will be eligible to win prizes by participating in a variety of golf contests.

County award Water Quality Improvement Grants and low interest loans
Kitsap County Public Works, Sewer Utility received full funding totaling $8.8 million for two sewer improvement projects in Manchester. The are the Yukon Harbor Collection System Local Improvement District and the Manchester Shoreline Sewer Facility Rehabilitation Both projects help protect water quality and safeguard existing shellfish protection areas located in the Yukon Harbor area.

Permissive left turns at Randall & Kitsap Way Boulevard are going away
The flashing yellow left turn light has been a success and is well-received at many locations in Kitsap County. But the unique nature of the double left-turn lane at the Randall Way and Kitsap Mall Boulevard intersection has created safety concerns according to Jeff Shea, Traffic Engineer for Kitsap County.

Kitsap County awarded water quality improvement grants
Kitsap County Public Works, Stormwater Division received full or partial funding totaling $4.5 million for five stormwater retrofit construction projects and one stream restoration project.

Kitsap County is committed to environmental stewardship and resource conservation. With this commitment in mind, the County developed and continues to offer the Waste Wise @ Work program to help businesses and institutions “green” their operations. Key components of the Waste Wise @ Work program include free technical assistance as well as a recognition program for qualifying businesses.

Kitsap County Commissioners are seeking representatives from North Kitsap (Commissioner District 1) and Central Kitsap (Commissioner District 3) to serve on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.

Governor's Tacoma Narrows Bridge advisory committee seeks new members
Kitsap County residents have the opportunity to advise the Washington State Transportation Commission on new toll rates for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee, with nine governor-appointed members, has two vacancies. Kitsap County residents are encouraged to apply, especially those who commute between Kitsap and Pierce counties.
