NEW - County seeks to amend code on how land is addressed
The County's Department of Community Development is seeking to amend County Code 16.66 (Addressing of Land) in an effort to clarify and define a quality address and road name standards, This is in response to the implementation of Next Generation 911 (NG911) in 2017 and improve the ability to find homes and businesses in a reasonably uniform manner.

Phase II burn ban downgraded to Phase I
The current Phase II burn ban has been reduced to a Phase I burn ban due to the rain this weekend. “The rain over the weekend was a welcome sight – and it provided some relief," according to Kitsap County Fire Marshal David Lynam.

Pedestrian safety enhancement coming to SR 160 near Port Orchard
An effort to enhance pedestrian safety will lead to an innovative upgrade at a Kitsap County pedestrian crossing. Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will install an on-demand beacon warning system to alert drivers of pedestrians waiting to cross the highway. Suquamish road and water improvements discussed Thursday (9/3)
Suquamish residents can learn more about a newly forming merchants’ association, get updates on continuing road improvements and hear about Clean Water Kitsap partnerships and initiatives this Thursday at the regular monthly meeting of the Suquamish Citizens Advisory Committee. Public Statement Regarding KRRC Proposed Stipulation
On July 29, representatives from Kitsap County and Kitsap Rifle and Revolver Club (KRRC) met to hear the Club’s proposal to reopen the range and avoid continuing the current litigation. This meeting was requested by the Club. Commissioner Rob Gelder and Prosecutor Tina Robinson represented Kitsap County while two members of KRRC’s leadership presented the Club’s proposal. Attorneys for both organizations were also present.

Recycle fluorescent, CFL & HID lights in Kitsap County at no charge
Kitsap County residents and businesses can now recycle fluorescent lights and other mercury-containing lights at no charge as part of the state’s product stewardship program called LightRecycle Washington. Washington State law makes it illegal to throw away mercury-containing lights in the garbage as it accumulates in the environment and can be harmful to human health.

Community meetings explore Complete Streets and West Kingston bridge projects
Community meetings in Kingston will explore the downtown core Complete Streets project, salmon recovery efforts and plans for the West Kingston bridge construction. Applications open to participate in Kingston Community Open House September 29
Applications are now open for non-profit, service and governmental organizations in the greater Kingston area that wish to participate in the annual Kingston Community Open House, hosted by the Kingston Citizens Advisory Council, scheduled to take place 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Kingston Middle School Commons. The middle school is located at 9000 NE West Kingston Road.
