Unsolicited telephone calls and e-mail, supposedly from persons identifying themselves as officials with the IRS, are on the rise in Kitsap County.  These calls are fraudulent, as are the demands for payment of money, or threats of arrest.

NEW - NWJLOW career fair
The Northwest Justice League of Women will host a "Women in Law Enforcement Career Fair" on Saturday, Feb. 13, on the campus of the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in Burien.  Recruiters from federal, state and local Puget Sound area law enforcement, corrections, communications and forensics agencies, including several from Kitsap County, will be on hand.

Increase in unsheltered homelessness reflected in Kitsap’s annual count
During the annual Kitsap County Point in Time Count, a survey that took place over a 24-hour period in January to identify those living homeless, 644 individuals were counted – a 30 percent increase since last year. Preliminary results for Kitsap identified 217 individuals living unsheltered in cars, abandoned buildings, the streets, tents, or other places, a figure more than double last year’s count.

Delays on Agate Pass bridge begin February 16
The State Route 305 Agate Pass Bridge, which links Bainbridge Island to the Kitsap Peninsula, will be reduced to one lane during daytime hours for 11 consecutive days beginning Tuesday, February 16.
