NEW - One last job for Silverdale Community Center
The Silverdale Billie Eder Community Center, scheduled for demolition in the near future, will host one last evolution befitting its station as a known fixture along Silverdale Way. For a brief period during the morning of Friday, May 27, 10 a.m. - 11:30, the former church, daycare facility, education center, public gathering space, government office and community theater will be the site of tactical training for units of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. Commissioners resume deliberation of fireworks ordinance May 23
The Kitsap County Board of County Commissioners will resume deliberations Monday on an ordinance amending Chapter 10.48 of the Kitsap County Code, creating the authority for Commissioners to adopt a resolution limiting the sale and use of fireworks during periods of drought or other emergencies.

County Commissioners approve Mental Health Tax funding recommendations
The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution May 9 approving funding recommendations totaling $5.5 million from the Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Therapeutic Court Citizens Advisory Committee.

National Police Week
During the week of May 15-21 the Kitsap County law enforcement community observes National Police Week, which encompasses National Peace Officers Memorial Day on Sunday. A local Kitsap County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony is scheduled for the afternoon of May 18. The ceremony is open to the public.
